Misting Fans

Anyone who may have been to the SuperBowl or an outdoor party event may have likely seen this huge and strange looking fan that emits fog. Well, that is exactly how misting fans look like. Misting fans have captured a large market in the U.S. including in cities where the temperature is unbearable like Miami and Dallas.

Misting fans are beginning to be a huge favorite both literally and figuratively. How do you effectively condition air in the outdoors? Air conditioners, electric fans are of no use to blazing heat caused by the outdoor temperature. The misting fans work perfectly for outdoor events. Even for factory uses and businesses, industrial misting fans have come a long way from cooling to preserving perishable products. Flower shops are a good example of this. The flower shop owner may no longer need a large fridge to help keep that crisp rose petal.

If one sees a misting fan, one can definitely observe an opening canvas that flaps; this is where cool air is promoted. The air produced by outdoor misting fan can dip to 40 degrees Fahrenheit even cooler than the ordinary ambient temperature. During a typical outdoor escapade like pool swimming, an undesirable air temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit can plunge to an acceptable and comfortable 75 degrees Fahrenheit in just a matter of minutes.

In closed areas like greenhouses, botanical garden or flower shops, misting fans are also great. The misting fan releases a fog like effect in the air and actually it is not just effect as it is really humid. This will help maintain cool temperature in this delicate places and humidity is definitely advantageous for plants and flowers to stay alive. In outdoor markets and trade shows, people will also benefit from the misting fan that will make fruits, vegetables and other produce stay in fresher condition.

The idea of misting fans came out when there was a great need to ventilate and condition air in outdoors. This is specially needed in ranches in Texas. There was no way then to use huge fans as it will only blow dust and more heat to the people. Then the idea came that would simulate the cooling effect of fogs. Mist cooling fans work closely like the way nature would in a fog. Water in its normal state is absolutely cold. Misting fans have high pressure pump chambers that produce ample water pressure that reach 1000 pounds per square inch. Water that is pumped out will pass through extremely small tubings that will reduce that size of the water into microscopic sized droplets. You will hardly see these droplets when they are pumped out but collectively these resemble a mist or fog. These extremely small droplets however evaporate quickly so as not to soak the user wet. But along with its evaporation it also brings with it the warmer temperature of air leaving out a misty and cool effect in the air. To help spread these small droplets the blades of the misting fans will do their job and can propel droplets to as far as hundreds of yards.

The basic approach of this cooling system is what is called evaporative cooling. Fans of this great appliance especially like the fogs giving them a visual assurance that there is indeed cooling in the air. Users though will not have to worry about getting wet as droplets evaporate so fast. Only when a person stands less than six inches away from the fan can get slightly wet. The effect of misting fans is visible if a person comes in contact with cold surfaces. Watches can get misty. And even that ice cold soda cup can get so wetty.

Misting fans indeed are such a marvelous invention. It uses the works of nature to cool down temperature. Now, football fans can enjoy watching the game, pool swimmers get to enjoy skinny dipping while forgetting the torturing and intolerable hotness of outdoor air temperature.
